A quick message from our friends at the MHPN:
The Midlands Health Psychology Network (MHPN) committee invites you to attend our 10th annual conference to be held at the Sunley Conference Centre, The University of Northampton on Thursday 20th February 2014. We will be hosting two fantastic keynote speakers: Dr Andrew Prestwich, Senior Lecturer in Health & Social Psychology at the University of Leeds, and Professor Eamonn Ferguson, Professor of Health Psychology at the University of Nottingham.
We will also be hosting oral presentations and poster presentations. A few highlights from last year’s conference are:
• Exploring parents’ emotional barriers to childhood weight management
• Investigating healthcare professionals and patients’ experiences of providing and receiving support for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
• Exploring the experiences of people with Muscular Dystrophy using Q-methodology
The call for abstracts for symposiums, oral and poster presentations is now open with this year’s theme reflecting our tenth anniversary: “Ten years of MHPN: looking back and moving forward” Abstracts relating to all aspects of health psychology and related topics are welcomed from individuals at any stage in their research career.
The MHPN is growing and with the conference open to members and non-members alike, this is a great opportunity for researchers in the Midlands to showcase their work to a varied and friendly audience. Please see attached flyer for submission details or visit http://www.mhpn.co.uk for more information and to join the network. The deadline for submission is Friday, November 8th 2013. Special bursaries are available, and discounted conference rates are available for MHPN members.
Feel free to share this email with your colleagues and MSc/PhD students.
We very much look forward to seeing you there!

Congratulations to our friends at the BPS Division of Health Psychology on their successful postgraduate conference last week. One of our recent graduates (Elaine Walklet) presented a poster based on her dissertation project. This examined stress, coping and health behaviours in staff employed by the NHS IAPT service.
Further details of the event can be found at http://dhppostgraduateconference2013.weebly.com/
Recent graduate from our MSc Health Psychology, Puja Joshi, has had a poster accepted for presentation at a conference in February. This is based on coursework done on the professional practice module M102PY.
