This module considers the issues faced by people with long term health conditions, and what health psychology has to offer to enhance self management, health outcomes and quality of life.
Session topics typically include models of disability, the biopsychosocial approach, pain theories and pain management programmes, diabetes, asthma, stroke, dementia, coronary heart disease, cancer, common/shared issues in chronic illness, self-management programmes, terminal illness and end of life issues, evaluating interventions, patient reported outcomes.
We have a range of guest speakers who contribute to the module, including staff from the Centre for Innovative Research Across the Life Course, and health professionals working in the NHS.
